Week #5

Yay for rain! This week’s share includes: zucchini, sugar snap peas, fennel, beets, kale and broccoli.

Pea season is here just in time for the Fourth of July! Sugar snap peas are so delicious out of hand, it’s pointless to mention recipe ideas…. except for the fact that they go amazingly in just about any dish! If you’re really craving an extra take-home, there’s plenty for sale in the stand. We also have a limited quantity of shelling peas available, amongst other yummy veggies. Being a part of a CSA can be an interesting adventure in which you are challenged to eat vegetables in creative ways. Sometimes it seems like there are more desirable options in our cooler for sale, trust us, we would share everything we have, but sometimes, there isn’t enough of one particular item to go around to everyone. So, feel free to check out any additional items and know we will do our best to share what we can with you.

Our heat loving plants are really happy with all of this hot weather we’ve been having and we look forward to cucumbers and tomatoes in the near future. We’re excited to share that our blueberry bushes are looking great this year and we should open for pick-your-own in the next week or two! We (and all of the plants) are so very grateful for this rain. Wishing you all a happy Fourth of July!
